Too Delicious Not to Share

Long-time readers might recall our love of iced chocolate. Rich, refreshing, and not too sweet, it may well be the perfect summer drink. Well, here in the nation's capital of humidity, we're making it with a fabulous new ingredient, too delicious not to share.

Start with the Chocolate Syrup made by an outfit called GrownUp KidStuff that we encountered on our recent trip to Chicago. The proprietors, Connie and Don, besides being delightful people to share show space with, know that the secret to a great chocolate syrup is to balance the bitterness of cocoa with a certain judicious sweetness. And using a syrup makes the recipe a snap.

So here is Anikka's Iced Chocolate for summer 2018.

To make one glass:

Place 2 Tbsp. GrownUp KidStuff Chocolate Syrup in glass measuring cup.

Add hot water-- steaming, not boiling-- to make 1 cup of liquid. Stir to mix.

Let cool.

Pour over crushed ice in a tall glass. Stir with a long spoon.

Top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, a sprig of something, berries, or if you can't wait any longer, drink as is in its unadulterated glory.
